As a boutique portrait photographer based right here in Bowling Green, I spend a lot of time getting to know the families in this community. I know how hard it is to find a place where mom and dad can actually enjoy dinner while the kids are happy too. So I went looking, and here is what I found.

1. Atomic Kitchen — Downtown Bowling Green

This 80’s-themed restaurant near Fountain Square is a one-of-a-kind experience for the whole family. Arcade games, movie posters, nostalgic toys, and a menu full of creative dishes with pop culture names — it’s a place where parents act like kids and kids see their parents light up. Owner Eric has poured his heart into every detail, and the food is as good as the atmosphere.

2. Chaney’s Dairy Barn — Nashville Road

Situated on a real working dairy farm, Chaney’s is so much more than an ice cream stop. Homemade ice cream from their own Jersey cows, a full lunch and dinner menu, a free playground, a jumping pillow, and self-guided farm tours make this a full afternoon for the whole family. This place has become a Bowling Green staple for good reason.

3. El Mazatlan — Multiple Bowling Green Locations

Yes, it’s a bourbon company — but hear me out. This is also one of the most welcoming family restaurants in downtown Bowling Green. Italian food, a kids’ menu featuring spaghetti, pizza, and garlic bread, private event rooms, and prices that won’t break the bank make this a hidden gem. Co-owners Chad and his wife bring a genuine family-first spirit to everything they do.

5. Mr. B’s Pizza & Wings — Scottsville Road

Pizza, wings, a game room for the kids, walls of TVs for sports fans, and a private event space make Mr. B’s a crowd-pleaser for families of all ages. With 15 years in the Bowling Green community and a commitment to fresh, never-frozen food, this place has earned its reputation. Wednesday family night is a particular standout — a family of four eats for under $40.
